2017 TAFR Cook-off

Hello Everyone! Well, it's that time of year again, and the 2017 Texas Association of First Responders Charity Wild Game Cook-off is only 3 short months away. The Cook-off dates this year will be Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th. Move-in dates will be Wednesday, April 26th and Thursday, April 27th. Move-out day will be Sunday, April 30th. The 2016 Cook-off was our first at the Pasadena Fairgrounds after a change from our traditional date in April to June. We were then forced to reschedule to September due to the excessive rains in June, but have now secured the last weekend in April for all future Cook-offs. Attached you will find the 2017 Rules, Flyer and Entry Form. The Priority Deadline for 2016 returning Teams will be Friday, April 7th, and new Teams will be given space priority in the order they are received with the fee paid.
The Cook’s Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at the Pasadena Municipal Fairgrounds in Campbell Hall at 7:00. Team space locations will be assigned at this meeting, so your attendance is vital. Late Entries will be accepted until 8:00am Friday, April 28th on a first come first served basis, and placed in any remaining available spaces. The entry fee will be $200.00 per space, and the admission gate entry fee will be at $15.00 per person. As in the past, a Law Enforcement Officer or Firefighter/EMS with proper credentials will be admitted free at the gate with one guest on Friday night only. All other accompanying guests must pay the $15.00 entry fee. Teams can pre-purchase admission tickets for their invited Guests for a discounted price of $10.00 each. Please mail your entry form along with a money order or check to the address provided, or you can mail or email your entry form and pay online at www.tafr.org.
Beginning in 2017, TAFR will host a Concert on both Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night will be "A Special Tribute to George Strait" featuring Derek Spence, along with opening act of Southern County Line featuring Adam Berry. Saturday night will feature Jody Booth along with opening act Will Carter Band. Your $15.00 admission gate fee, along with Cook Credentials, pre-paid and complimentary tickets will also offer admission into the Concert.
The Flyer for the 4th Annual Outlaw Dave First Responder Wild Ride is also attached for those of you, or someone you know, that would like to ride. It is a Police Escorted Ride that will leave from Stubbs Harley-Davidson at 4400 Telephone Road, Houston, Texas 77087. Ride route planning is underway now to ensure a long, scenic and safe ride for everyone. Please remember, you do not have to be a First Responder to participate in the Motorcycle Ride. You may pre-register online at www.tafr.org and receive a ride t-shirt and ride patch.
Your support in the past has enabled TAFR to continue its mission of assisting First Responders injured in the line of duty. With your continued support, TAFR will be able to reach this goal far into the future. As always, if you have any questions, please give me a call at 281-841-0766, or you can email your question to this address. Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing all of you at the 2017 TAFR Charity Wild Game Cook-off and Outlaw Dave First Responder Wild Ride!
