DAVID MCINROE, COYOTE RANCH BBQ #3, Stephenville, TX

David McInroe and wife Debbie became interested in cooking competition barbeque in 1999. As most of us do, they struggled in the beginning. Then, with some help from some other cookers, they began to place here and there.

The McInroe's together with several of their friends all began to cook, just the men at first and then the wives decided to join in as well. They operated Coyote Ranch BBQ as a business at first, with everyone putting up a set amount of money out of which they purchased everyone's competition meat and when they won any money it was deposited in the same account. It seemed like David and Debbie were attending a lot more events than any of the other participants, so they disbanded with everyone keeping their Coyote Ranch number designation.

It was agreed between the Coyote Ranch members that the first cooker to become Cooker of the Year would be Coyote Ranch #1, but David has decided that he wants to keep his #3 designation. We all know he is #1 but he is still Coyote Ranch #3.

David had a lot of challengers this year, including Debbie but he pulled it off. He was elected President of the Lone Star Barbecue Society for 2004/2005 and has been instrumental in getting a lot of our new members. He has cooked from west Texas to east Texas and points in between this year.
