Kelly Says

Here it is, after the middle of March, and we haven't been to a cookoff this year. It's not because we don't want to, but because the cookoffs we had planned to go to have either been cancelled or rescheduled and ended up creating a conflict with some other thing in our lives.

Our next chance is at the end of the month. We are already getting things loaded to go to Knickerbocker. Part of the early start is the fact that we haven't been anywhere to cook in several months, but the main reason is because we are breaking in our new motor home. Please notice that I said our new motor home, not a new motor home. We are transitioning from our nylon mansion, so the fact that it is old and small are pretty easy to accept for us.

I know that a lot of you out there are already shaking your heads, thinking that Kim and I are going to be too good to associate with ya'll; that is not the case. We will always remember the little people from our past. Kim may spend a little more time sitting under the A.C., but the days we spent in the heat will always be a fond memory for us.

I'm sure that there will be a day when I long to sleep in a cold tent with a couple of inches of rainwater, but I want to try a dry bed for awhile. Another entertaining exercise I always enjoy is loading everything in the cold rain late at night, driving around for a while, only to find that there are no available motel rooms for at least 150 miles - tired, wet, cold kids really enhance the experience. Everyone should try that at least once.

If you find yourself at a cookoff that we are at, be sure to stop by for a visit. We may be busy if it's close to a turn-in time, but we will have some free time as soon as everything is turned in. And if you are among those who like to rough it, we will try to make room for you if the weather turns against you (we've been there).

We'll be staying in the I.N.A.T. (It's Not A Tent)
