Kelly Says
I know it’s been a while since the last update, but I have a good excuse. I am currently typing with one hand due to a mild injury, so read this slowly - that way you won’t get ahead of me.
When we last visited, I was telling everybody about our motorhome troubles on our trip to Dublin. We made it home without any additional trouble, and I was able to cure all of the motorhome problems. It was really a simple fix, but it took me a while to find how to accomplish it. I SOLD IT!
Now I know that I will be getting emails, letters, telegrams and phone calls from lots of you fine folks, but I wasn’t about to sell that fine machine to anyone I cook around – I might need a favor from one of ya’ll someday, and if it was the new owner of the I.N.A.T. the favor might not be quickly offered.
We have gone back to carrying the tent, but now we are carrying it in Kim’s 33’ 5th wheel – Just in case we need a guesthouse. The financial investment was a little steeper than with the I.N.A.T., but we are hoping for less eventful trips to cookoffs in the future.
Now, on to current events.
First on the list is to offer my sincere congratulations to Harvey on his Grand Championship at Meridian. Keep it up #1.
Second, I congratulate my wife on her latest success. She works so hard Head Judging events that she seldom gets to compete much – she recently got a 1st place chicken, 4th place brisket and 10th place chili at one event – without any help from me!
Third, Remember that we have started (or soon will) a new points year (I’ll have to check on the exact date). There are plenty of cookers out there that are capable of being C.O.T.Y., and without Harvey having a huge lead right now, it’s a lot easier to get motivated to make a run at it. Check the calendar – there are lost of events listed already, and more being added all the time. Harvey may be a great cook, but I intend to see how he does with a few challenges thrown at him. (I have worked an a motorhome enough to know how to break one while no one is watching!)
The weather will be getting cooler soon, cooking will be more comfortable and fun, and everyone has the same chance to be Cooker Of The Year, so go cook something good!
